The family name Pook is written in Japanese in a katakana phonetic translation using the characters “pu” and “ku”. Katakana (Jap. 片仮名 or カタカナ) is a syllabary, a set of symbols that represent syllables. Besides hiragana, it is the second Japanese syllabary. Each katakana symbol stands as a syllabogram either for a vowel or a consonant with the following vowel. Since my wife is Japanese and my children are half Japanese I am trying to learn this language.

CIRKULARIS 8

Name development and corporate design for CIRKULARIS 8

The architectural office of Kristoff DuBose specialises in the design of office environments.

The brand process involved the development of a positioning strategy, of brand promises and core values, as well as naming and branding. The totality of solutions provided by CIRKULARIS 8 is signified by the figure 8 composed of two adjoining circles. The aperture in the middle offers the possibility of imagining a focal point in the future. The use of the letter “K” in the brand name is a reference to the “K” in Kristoff DuBose. The idea of developing turnkey solutions cannot be overlooked in the figurative mark, which can be interpreted as a keyhole, and constitutes an important part of the brand story.
